The Gingerbugs Story

Welcome to Gingerbugs & Co; a little shop in Ingleton in the Yorkshire Dales, aiming to bring you the most gorgeous gifts, souvenirs, art, homewares, jewellery and treats from some of the most talented makers our region has to offer.

Gingerbugs & Co was created by Steph Hughes (Whirligigs) and Clare Tyas (GingerArts) in 2019. Clare has now stepped back from the shop to focus on her art, but still supplies us with her fabulous paintings, prints, cards and homewares. Steph now runs the shop alongside growing her greetings card business. She is helped by Christine Carradice (Christine Carradice Silk Painter) and Hayley Brown (Useless Buttons) who help manage the ever-expanding band of fabulous artists and makers who stock our shop in Ingleton, as well as working on their own makes which can be found in the shop.

Gingerbugs & Co offers a way for small scale makers and artists, who make amazing things, to get their work out there and sell their makes to a larger audience. We have all benefitted from having our work stocked in similar shops and understand the struggle that small-scale makers have with getting seen on social media and competing with mass produced goods in many shops. We know our makers and the stories behind what they do, and we want to share that with our customers; there’s not many shops that can tell you who designed or made every item in the shop, but we can!

We aim to offer locals and visitors to Ingleton the chance to buy artwork, gifts, treats and souvenirs made by real people rather than factories… no mass-produced tat here… just high quality, beautifully made items, to suit all budgets and tastes… we love the makes we stock, and we hope you will too.
